About Harvard Pro Musica
Harvard Pro Musica is a classical, community choral ensemble with a long history in the Greater-Boston area. Formed in 1969 by 18 enthusiastic singers, it has been in continuous existence ever since and has grown to about 60 members from Harvard and a dozen other neighboring towns. Harvard Pro Musica has performed in collaboration with other local choral groups, including The Treble Chorus of New England, Sounds of Stow, and Nashoba Valley Chorale.
Repertoire & Performances
Pro Musica’s repertoire consists of great works of the choral canon – from medieval and Renaissance works by composers such as Wilbye and Victoria, to works by Baroque masters such as Monteverdi, Schütz, Bach, and Handel, from classical works by Haydn, Beethoven, and Mozart, to contemporary works by Benjamin Britten, Leonard Bernstein, Carl Orff, and Eric Whitacre.
Leadership
Dr. Mark S. Bennett received his BA and MA in Music at California State University, Stanislaus and his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Choral Music at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
